1. Make ablution
Everyone (jinn catcher, healer, and patient) make ablution
2. Prepare some holy water
This step is optional but good to do if doing ruqyah in person instead of remotely, e.g. via Skype. In order to cure a patient, you will often need water over which you have recited certain verses of the Quran. Water over which the Quran has been recited becomes holy water. It can be used to burn evil jinn and destroy black magic. To create holy water, perform the following steps using either regular or Zamzam water.Put some holy water in a spray bottle and some in a cup. The spray bottle will be used to spray (burn) the jinn and destroy black magic, if necessary. The cup will be for the patient to drink, if necessary.
STEPS:
3. Hold hands
In in-person ruqyah, healer is to hold hands with patient’s head with toHealer is to have one hand hold the the hand of the patient (or a photo of the patient) and the other hand hold the hand of the jinn catcher. Jinn catching can be used to catch jinn inside people who are not present or cannot be available. In this case, simply replace the patient with a picture of the patient.
3. State intention
This is an important step and should not be forgotten. You may perform this step in your heart instead of out loud. Following are the two declarations to make:
- Intention declaring goal for doing ruqyah
e.g.- “I intend to do ruqyah to destroy the black magic and remove the jinn affecting this person”
- “I intend to capture the jinn of the sorcerer and remove them from the sorcerer so that the sorcerer can’t use those jinn to do black magic again.”
- Declaration that God and only God provides the cure
It is important to understand that you, the raaqi, are but a mere human and cannot cure people all on your own. Only God can provide the cure. It is a best practice to explain this to your patient so that they don’t think you’re some special human with semi-Godly powers to be praised as such. If you are successful in “helping” the patient get cured, you need to remember not to boast or brag about your efforts nor think that you are better than others. Just thank God you were able to help others.
4. Recite protection and cure prayers
These prayers can be recited in English but it is preferable to recite them in Arabic.
The healer and the jinn catcher make intention to catch the jinn and the healer recites the following prayers. The prayers are also important as they ask for protection for the healer as well.
